The Beauty of Words

3:41 AM

Such a beautiful sight - how effortless words can fit together to create a quote. I think I've always loved quoting various pieces of media. Unlike Miles Halter from Looking for Alaska, who is fascinated by famous last words, I am in love with quotes. I collect them like trinkets, putting my favorites in journals or various word documents. I can quote all of Mean Girls, most of The Hunger Games Trilogy, Looking for Alaska, The Fault in Our Stars, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and so on. Anyways, there's an embarrassing number of quotes that I recite, and I usually reference them in conversations but no one usually understands what I'm hinting at. I thought I would share some of my favorite quotes if anyone is interested. It's a long list, and no, there's no order to them. Also please keep in mind that many of these quotes don't have authors because I can't find who wrote or said them. Because of that, I have separated the quotes into two categories: Unknown and Cited. Enjoy.

"When you start to know someone, all their physical characteristics start to disappear. You begin to dwell in their energy, recognize the scent of their skin. You see only the essence of the person, not the shell. That’s why you can’t fall in love with beauty. You can lust after it, be infatuated by it, want to own it. You can love it with your eyes and your body but not your heart. And that’s why, when you really connect with a person’s inner self, any physical imperfections disappear, become irrelevant."

"Meeting you was like reading my favorite book for the first time." (This one of my favorite quotes - something touches me, the book lover in me that understands this on many levels).

"Some people are old at 18 and some are young at 90. Time is a concept that humans created."

"My problem is that I fall in love with words, rather than actions. I fall in love with ideas and thoughts, instead of reality. and it will be the death of me."

"You are so used to your features, you don’t know how beautiful you look to a stranger."

"I know that I’m hard to love. Some days I’m all smiles and affection and then other days there’s nothing I want more than to be quiet and lie in bed. Sometimes I get angry about stupid things and won’t want to talk to you. Other days I’ll think that you’re the most perfect person in the world. Please don’t give up on me. I know it’s not easy but iIll always come back to you."

"It's okay to lose yourself for a while. In books, in music, in art. Let yourself get lost."

"Someday, someone is going to look at you with a light in their eyes you’ve never seen, they’ll look at you like you’re everything they’ve been looking for their entire lives. Wait for it.”
