Refreshing Smoothie Recipe

3:27 PM

As we transition to fall, we start craving more carb-loaded foods and forget all about summer smoothies. Stay fit and continue to make smoothies if you want to keep off the autumn weight. Don't have too many though because smoothies can be around 400-500 calories and are loaded with sugar.

This is a new smoothie recipe I tried and really enjoyed. I use frozen fruits because they are cheaper and last longer, but you can choose to use fresh ones, too. For my tropical green smoothie, you will need:
  • 1/2 of a banana (frozen or ripe)
  • 1/2 cup of pineapple (I used Trader Joe's)
  • 2 cups of kale
  • 1 cup of frozen mango
  • 1/4 cup of berries (I use the berry medley from TJ's)
  • 8oz of unsweetened coconut milk
Toppings:
  • Unsweetened shredded coconut
  • Chia seeds
  • Cocoa nibs
You can add or subtract ingredients to tailor it to your liking. The banana isn't essential but it does help make the smoothie creamy and the milk helps it blend.

I also like to add some Purium and Aria vanilla protein powder for flavoring, but it's entirely up to you! You can buy Purium here and it's actually a meal supplement but I hate the taste so I add the dehydrated veggies to my smoothies.
Once you've gathered all your ingredients you can start to blend it up!

I love my Magic Bullet and got it on sale on Amazon for $30. I had a Hamilton Beach but it didn't blend very well. Once it's all blended you can either drink it out of the blender, put it in a cup, or eat it like a smoothie bowl. I like to top it off with shredded coconut, cocoa nibs, chia seeds, and blueberries.

& that's it! Do you have a favorite smoothie recipe?
